LG released its giant 48-inch OLED television last year. It was a perfect screen, with amazing color representation, inky blacks, Free Sync Premium, and G-sync, which were installed onto a 120Hz panel. However, this TV was not well suited as a PC screen.
LG has now tailored this huge television to allow users to use it as a PC monitor or gaming monitor. With these alterations, you can now place this television on your desk and use it as you would a regular PC monitor. This new screen is called the LG UltraGear 48GQ900.
One of the biggest changes that LG made was to add a stand. Previously, LG TVs had wide bases that discouraged the users from managing cables effectively around them. However, the inclusion of a stand makes cable management a lot easier, and it also lifts the desktop off the table, so you have more space and do not have the screen take up most of your desk space. The stand is V-shaped, which is traditional for PC monitors.
LG has also added built-in two-port USB 3.0 hubs and a 3.55mm four-pole headphone jack. This jack is convenient, which makes it incredibly easy to access. The PC itself has built-in 20W stereo speakers and remote control, which can be used to control the speakers.
The screen of this PC will also allow you to overdrive the screen to 138Hz. Furthermore, the press release fails to mention whether or not LG has dealt with the aggressive brightness limiter algorithm. This feature was one of the major things that annoyed users as they complained about the screen constantly dimming when working on it. If LG has managed to make that change, then the new monitor will surely be one best 4K monitors on the market.
