Leica, the high-end camera manufacturer, has announced that they will be releasing a second smartphone named the Leitz Phone 2. This phone comes with many notable changes and improvements over its predecessor, the Leitz Phone. The original was the first-ever phone from the company last year, and since then, it has been repacked as a version of the Sharp Aquos R6.
The design aesthetics of the Leitz Phone 2 are pretty similar to its predecessor. It has the same boxy design and an aluminum outer case. The camera module is circular and flushed out on the rear. To account for such a camera, the phone comes with a proprietary case with a cutout.
Probably the most exciting aspect of this phone is the camera. It is a large 1-inch 47.2MP CMOS image sensor that you can use to capture high-resolution images even if you are in low lighting conditions. The f/1.9 lens has a focal length of around 19mm, and the company promises that it will be able to capture sharp images that have low noise and a high dynamic range. Even if the conditions are unfavorable.
The camera of the Leitz Phone 2 is undoubtedly the star of the show and will allow the phone to stand out and give it that unique Leica look. It also has a proprietary software engine. Using a single lens, the phone will be able to emulate up to three focal lengths based on Leica’s M-series lenses. These lenses include the Noctilux 50, the Summilux 3, and the Summilux 28.
You will also have the option to apply filters, including Cinema Classic, Monochrome, and analog 35mm cinema, and more. The selfie camera on this phone is also expected to be extremely powerful. The company promises a 12.6MP sensor with a 27mm focal length and an f/2.3 aperture. It will also feature phase detection autofocus or PDAF.
Other than the camera, the internals of this phone will also be powerful as it will use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and a 5000mAh battery.
