The Snapdragon X75 Modem Is Set To Reach New Heights

Qualcomm has revealed its latest Snapdragon X75 modem, which they claim to be the world’s first Modem-RF system. The company’s technology division used its 6th generation modem-to-antenna solution, meaning the chip can support 5G Advanced. The modem is said to be in its sampling phase, so devices with the chip will most likely be shipped in the second half of 2023.

The Snapdragon x75 was designed with scalability and 5G performance in mind. The chip has its own hardware accelerator tensor that has allowed the performance to improve a great deal. The X75 chip is looking to achieve a new smartphone connectivity benchmark as it will provide users with a 10-carrier aggregation for mmWave, FDD uplink MMO for sub-6 Ghz bands and 5x downlink carrier aggregation.

With this chip, Qualcomm has also put forth its Advanced Modem-RF Software suit. This allows the chip to improve its sustained 5G performance in areas where connectivity is stilted. This includes parking garages, elevators, subways and more, enabling you to have better connectivity in places where you would have otherwise had a spotty connection.

To improve the sustainability of a phone’s connectivity even further, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 will make use of an AI-based sensor-assisted mmWavve beam management. This will help in better AI-based location accuracy and 5G reliability. This is similar to the design of the X70 modem.

The company has also made an effort to lower the cost as they have coupled Qualcomm’s QTM565 fifth-generation antenna module and the transceiver for the mmWave. This design will also help reduce the hardware footprint and board complexity. The toll on a phone’s battery consumption will also be considerably lower. Qualcomm’s 5G PowerSave Gen 4 and Power Efficiency Suite also helps prolong the phone’s battery life.

The Snapdragon X75 will have support for Qualcomm’s DSDA Gen 2 and both 5G and 4G dual data on two SIM cards simultaneously. Alongside the Snapdragon X75 5G Modem-RF System, the company has also revealed the Snapdragon X72. This chip is designed to support faster speeds when you download and upload large files.
