There have been rumors about a partnership between Fortnite and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the legendary group that started the superhero genre. Power Rangers, a three-decade-long television series based on the popular Japanese series Super Sentai, is about transforming warriors who use Zord robots and distinctive uniforms to defend Earth. Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, the most recent season, debuted on Netflix in September, and a 2025 revival is reportedly in the works.
Power Rangers has been an integral part of popular culture for more than thirty years, despite fluctuations in popularity across its seasons. It is often compared to other series that have influenced Fortnite. Many superheroes and TV characters have made special guest appearances in Epic Games’ hugely famous multiplayer battle royale. Notable guests include the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, their enduring comrade April O’Neal, and their legendary enemy, Shredder, who made an island visit.
There are rumors that, in addition to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fortnite may soon receive a second bunch of heroic teenagers. A claim surfaced on the Xbox Era podcast indicating that Epic is thinking of adding the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team to the game as playable characters. Co-host and video game rumor aficionado Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker revealed this plan, but it’s unclear when exactly the crossover will happen or whether Tommy Oliver—a fan favorite—will make an appearance in his Green or White Ranger forms.
The Power Rangers video game franchise has a significant history, especially from the Mighty Morphin era. There has been a slight revival in recent years, best illustrated by Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid (2018), which included a crossover with Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter as guest fighters, complete with their distinct Ranger forms. Supporters have also shown their gratitude for the Teenagers with Attitude in a variety of ways, including by building spacecraft in Starfield that resemble Megazords and altering Ryu’s Ranger outfit in Street Fighter 6.
Players who are eager to take on the roles of the Mighty Morphin heroes should continue to be skeptical for the time being since there has been speculation over the possible inclusion of the original Power Rangers in Fortnite. But given Fortnite’s history of collaborating with other properties and the large cast of Power Rangers characters, Epic Games may look at releasing more skins in the future, should the first six prove to be well-liked.
