According to recent leaks, The Last of Us 2, a highly praised game from Naughty Dog, may soon be coming to the PlayStation 5. While the game was well-received by critics when it first debuted on the PS4 in 2020, some of its plot points infuriated ardent fans.
The original Last of Us video games have a history of being repeatedly released by Sony and Naughty Dog. This has featured both a whole remake dubbed The Last of Us Part 1 for the PS5, which entirely reimagined Ellie and Joel’s terrifying journey, and a restored version of the original game, taking it from the PS3 to the PS4. All indicators now point towards The Last of Us 2 perhaps receiving a similar treatment, with a remastered edition for Sony’s most recent gaming gear.
Insider Gaming has made a surprising finding about The Last of Us 2: Remastered, a potential Naughty Dog game. Mark Pajarillo, the lead outside artist at Naughty Dog, briefly mentioned the surprise game on his LinkedIn profile, but this statement has since been taken down. Unfortunately, Pajarillo’s page didn’t provide any concrete details concerning The Last of Us 2: Remastered’s content or scheduled release. However, players can anticipate that the game will be accessible on the PS5, and it can’t be fully ruled out that the PC version may also be released.
The Last of Us Part 1 is one example of a PlayStation exclusive that Sony has brought to the PC. Despite its release being a few months after the PS5 version, the PC adaptation of the game showed Sony’s dedication to making its games available on other platforms. The Last of Us 2 will most likely be released on PC in the future given this strategy. The concept of a remastered edition with improved visuals and other changes could make it even more alluring for PC players, even though a basic port of the PS4 version would be welcomed by many.
It is hoped that the creators of The Last of Us 2: Remastered would draw lessons from the launch problems of the first game if it is in fact in development and slated for PC. The Last of Us Part 1’s PC debut was plagued by a number of difficulties that made the game less enjoyable, however, these issues were subsequently fixed in post-launch upgrades.
