This iProVPN review will help us understand whether this provider is really worth investing in or will determine whether it’s great for security and more! Let’s get started?
You will never know when the latest cyber-attack hits. With the current state of affairs in the modern digital space, we need to be extra careful about the websites we visit and the data or information we leave online. Situations are very unpredictable and often require a lot of attention to detail. With that said, a VPN, short for Virtual Private Network, is one way to get the security and privacy support you need while being online. I’ve tested numerous VPNs in the past, and now, it’s time to put iProVPN to the test!
iProVPN is a new VPN provider, having been in the industry for almost a year now. However, even though it’s fairly new, this provider has managed to get a lot of notice. So, let’s test the app out and see whether iProVPN is truly worth the investment.
iProVPN review – An overview
Just in case you’re short on time and can’t go through this entire iProVPN review, here’s an overview of what we have found so far. iProVPN is somewhat affordable, mostly because of its 2-year plan for $2.1/mo. If you’re worried about privacy, iProVPN is located in the British Virgin Islands and follows a strict no-logs policy. I’ve covered more details on it further on.
I wasn’t too pleased about the network coverage since it offers only a little over 250+ servers in 20+ locations. However, to know optimal results, you need to run a lot of tests of your own, and that’s exactly what I did.
I tested a couple of its servers and managed to get access to some of the more popular streaming and torrenting services. To name a few, I got access to Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, Hotstar, Sky Sports, HBO Now, and a couple others. The speeds weren’t exactly the fastest, but neither were they slow. You will have no buffering or lagging issues while streaming HD content.
To be honest, I believe the VPN is still a little young to put a verdict on it just yet. But, from what I tested, the results were pretty satisfactory. The security front of iProVPN are great; the features are just basic but serve its purpose. iProVPN has a TrustScore of 4.8 stars on Trustpilot, which speaks volumes.
How much does iProVPN cost?
Before getting into the details of how iProVPN performed throughout testing, let’s first get into its price. For me, this was absolutely necessary. It will show anyone that their investments are going into the right places. Some VPNs are super affordable but perform terribly, and then there are also expensive VPNs that also perform terribly. This is why testing the VPN is important, but first…
Here’s how much iProVPN costs:
The monthly plan costs around $10, which according to me, is a little overpriced; however, compared to other providers that cost around $12 minimum for the 1-month plan, this is cheaper in comparison. But, luckily, the 2-year plan is quite affordable, costing just $2.1/mo. There sadly isn’t an absolute free trial available, but you could pay around $0.99 for a 7-day trial, which brings you directly into the 1-year plan that costs around $24.95, billed after 7 days.
Is iProVPN safe? Does it log any user data?
For some, the protection of online privacy is preferred way more than accessing geo-restricted streaming services. So, it’s a must for any VPN provider to come through, making sure that their users feel safe while connected to the VPN.
As mentioned above, iProVPN is located in the British Virgin Islands, which is known for its safety and privacy laws. This also means that the provider doesn’t engage in fraudulent activities that lead them to logging user data.
However, you can’t just take the provider’s word for it; you need to go through the logging policies and look up other resources. When I went through the iProVPN no-logs policy, I saw that they don’t keep IP addresses, timestamps, nor log any other important details apart from your email address. You could even provide a fake email address just to sign up.
Here is a snippet from the iProVPN logging policy:
Another factor for securing a user over the internet is through the kind of features a VPN offers. Take a look below for an insight into the iProVPN features.
iProVPN encryption and advanced security features
In most cases, a VPN provider can list a thousand different security features that it claims to offer on its website, but you need to test those features to see if they actually work. I ran the iProVPN desktop app through some tests, and it worked great! There was no data leaks either when I tested for DNS, IP, and WebRTC leaks. I ran these tests while connected to the Netherlands server, here are the results:
IP leak test:
DNS leak test:
WebRTC leak test:
Other than this, iProVPN operates using AES 256-bit encryption, matched with a couple of protocols (OpenVPN, IKEv2, IPSec, PPTP, L2TP, and OpenConnect) that you can choose from for the best results. Here’s a look at some of its other VPN features:
- A Kill Switch
- Split-Tunneling
- Smart Connect
- DNS and IP leak protection
- Ad-Blocker
- Malware protection
- Unlimited bandwidth
iProVPN servers – Can I access geo-restricted streaming services?
You need to look into the network coverage and see whether a VPN offers coverage in countries that can unblock the best or the most popular streaming services. That is something a free VPN won’t provide. So this iProVPN review won’t be near to complete if we don’t test the unblocking abilities. iProVPN has only around 250+ servers in 20+ countries, but that didn’t stop it from allowing me access to some of the most sought-after platforms. Here’s a list of all the services I got access to:
- US Netflix
- UK Netflix
- Amazon Prime
- Disney Plus (US and UK)
- Hotstar
- Hulu
- Sky Sports
- AE TV
- Food Network
- Comedy central
- HBO Now
- DAZN
There are probably more that iProVPN can manage to unblock, which I’ll look into with further testing, but looking at these, the results were beyond expected. It’s not that easy for a VPN to work with a smaller network of servers. The speeds weren’t that fast, but you can still stream movies in HD. Now, most of us use various devices to stream movies, so a VPN needs to be able to support the device we use or allow connections through routers. Let’s take a look at the iProVPN device compatibility.
iProVPN device support
The iProVPN apps are quite user-friendly and easy to set up. The added perk is that iProVPN allows up to 15 multi-device connections, which is perfect for larger families or individuals with multiple devices. Here are the devices that iProVPN offers apps for:
- Windows
- Android
- macOS
- iOS
- Linux
- FireTVstick
- Chromebook
- Routers
- Smart TVs
- Nvidia Shield
- Roku

You should run a few tests of your own to see how you like it!
