1. The Maze Runner (2014)
A huge elevator is carrying a scared and lonely young guy up. After a brief duration of darkness, the elevator doors open, and a sea of young male faces peer down at a small kid who has no memory of his past or origins. These boys are now little more than names.
Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), who recently moved into The Glade, a lush, green plateau encircled by impassible walls, is the newest inhabitant. But these aren’t your typical walls, and they form the perimeter of a complicated maze whose layout and direction are altered every evening.
The guys have created clear rules, organized themselves into groups based on their areas of skill, and created a system for harmonious cohabitation. Some of the boys have been there for three years. One such gifted group is the maze runners. In an effort to escape eventually, they spend their days circling the labyrinth while subconsciously learning its structure.
However, Thomas’s entrance precipitates a series of violent and dangerous events, including several Griever attacks and encounters with enormous metallic creatures. Thomas is certain he can find a way out of the maze, but The Glade’s delicate, delusional balance will be upset when people start to ask questions about their past and the incidents that led to their “incarceration.”
The Gladers seemed to be immune to viruses as the movie came to a close. The Gladers found out that they took part in a study to determine how the virus affected their minds. At the film’s conclusion, the woman kills herself while men in a uniform rush the lab with military-style weapons. Gally suddenly emerges with a pistol he found. So the movie has a dramatic ending!
He commands them to remain in the Maze after being stung by a Griever and raises the gun to shoot Thomas in retaliation for destroying the Glade. Minho throws a spear at Gally, impaling him in the chest, while Chuck fires a bullet at Minho, wounding him in the chest. Armed guys in masks barge in and take the group away in a chopper.
They hover over The Maze, which seems to have been inserted within a wide desert environment. The helicopter finally reaches a deserted city. As the film concludes, the purportedly deceased scientists congregate in a chamber. According to Paige, the experiment was successful, and for the survivors, Phase Two has started.
2. The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials (2015)
Thomas and a small number of teenagers are able to escape the maze and the Glade in the 2014 film Labyrinth Runner. After running, the kids have to deal with Dr. Ava Paige’s sinister goals for W.C.K.D. and the dangers of the scorch trials.
Thomas, Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Minho, Teresa Agnes (Kaya Scodelario), Frypan, and Winston feel more secure after Janson’s rescue until Aris, another Janson rescue, discloses a shocking fact about their “haven.”
The Gladers are stuck on the edge of a large desert and head toward the mountains in search of The Right Arm. Some Cranks attack and pursue Thomas and Minho after they turn on the electricity in an abandoned building. When the cranks and mercs collide, the hunt gets more exciting.
Winston uses a gun to disperse the Cranks while they search for a way out, but one of them knocks and scratches him. The others set him free. As dawn approaches, the Gladers continue to move across the dunes. They collide because Winston has been infected, and the illness rapidly spreads throughout his body. He wants to be freed from his agony; he has no desire to transform into a crank.
Frypan produces a gun, which Newt takes and hands to Winston. Winston bids his friends farewell before they leave. They all hear one gunshot while they are moving. While the rest are sleeping, Thomas looks at a civilization out in the distance. As the gang continues to move, a big lightning storm begins. Minho is hit by ferocious lightning, but not fatally. His friends lure him into a separate building with them. They discover dozens of chained Cranks there.
Brenda (Rosa Salazar), who lives in the shadows with a gang of survivors, appears. She gestures towards the Gladers with Jorge, her commander, and her father (Giancarlo Esposito). He realizes the tattoos on the Gladers’ necks are priceless and originate from a WCKD facility when he looks at them. Jorge is also made aware of the hunt for The Right Arm.
This causes the small company to experience a series of escapes, chases, hunts, and adventures as they navigate hot terrain, desolate locations, zombie attacks, and the looming menace of W.C.K.D. Tensions eventually begin to build when this core group encounters the charismatic underground leader Jorge. The plot loses steam again when Brenda, Thomas and Jorge’s right-hand woman, starts a bizarre side plot.
3. The Maze Runner: Death Cure (2018)
A spectacular action scene including a speeding train, jeeps that resemble tanks, a flying plane, and a dangling train car introduces; The Death Cure, the third and final novel in The Maze Runner trilogy. In an endeavor to release their comrade Minho who has been held prisoner by WCKD, Thomas is leading the Gladers. Why was he discovered? Because WCKD is convinced that a sizable immune population will result in the identification of the virus’s therapeutic agent.
After Thomas and his crew take the wrong train carriage, the rest of the movie is spent attempting to locate Minho. But it’s also about Teresa, a former flame of Thomas’s, their confrontation, the deaths of other Gladers at the hands of the Flare, and the eventual victory over WCKD.
Thomas and his gang find the Last City while looking for Minho. The shelter of WCKD is here, shielded by a huge wall that keeps out those who carry the terrible sickness.
Thomas shoots Ava after he locates her. She tries to assist him, but Janson kills her with a single shot. Thomas is brought into the room where Teresa is getting ready to collect his blood. Teresa smacks Janson over the head and tries to assist Thomas in escaping when he claims that WCKD would only cure those who are deemed appropriate. Then Thomas begins to fight Janson and throws a weight on a jail door that keeps the two Cranks before Janson can kill them.
They explode and begin mowing Janson down. As Teresa and Thomas attempt to go to the top of the structure, Thomas is shot by Janson. Jorge, Brenda, Vince, Gally, and Vince take a plane to the top, and Teresa assists Thomas in leaping to safety.
The uprising destroys the building next to the facility before she can leave. The next building strikes WCKD, causing it to fall and take Teresa. Thomas sees her fall to her death in agony.
Finally, the survivors make it to the island Ava mentioned as a haven. They succeed in entering their new home. Minho hands Thomas the necklace which Newt had initially provided him. Inside is a letter from Newt to Thomas, in which he reflects on their entire conflict, expresses gratitude for his friendship, and counsels him to take care of himself and everyone else.
The survivors then inscribed the names of the loved ones who died on a rock. Thomas etched the names of Chuck, Newt, and Teresa. In the final picture, Thomas is alone on the beach, clutching the serum and gazing into the distance.
