Ever since OnePlus revealed its plans to use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in its new flagship, there have been many leaks regarding what the new phone could look like. According to Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, a new leak suggests that the One Plus 11 flagship phone may have a ceramic body. Phones are often made using different materials, but ceramic is an unusual material in the North American market.
The post also mentioned that the rumored ceramic body may be paired with a metal frame. This could be a technique by OnePlus to introduce something new in the market. Additionally, a ceramic back can also assist the phone in remaining cool and dissipating heat well.
Ceramics are non-conductive for electricity and heat, making it a suitable material for phones. The ceramic back will be refreshing and make the phone easier to hold for extended periods.
A ceramic back will also make the phone look beautiful and feel nice in your hands. Leaks also suggest that the phone will use a curved display alongside their standard punch-hole camera as the selfie camera, arranged at the corner.
Digital Chat Station also revealed that the Chinese OEM would allegedly design the base 11 models to have 16GB of RAM and faster UFS 4.0 storage. These specs have been previously speculated as well.
Internally, this flagship will use Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which has already been confirmed by the company itself. This new chipset will feature an advanced AI engine and use Wi-Fi 7, with enhanced connectivity and double the speed.
With a large number of leaks, fans are excited to see the phone in person. The phone has been rumored to have a release date of the end-of 2022. However, even if the phone is launched in late December, it will be available for the Chinese market first. This means that the global market will have to wait till 2023 to get its hands on it.
If the phone does manage to release in 2022, it may be one of the first, if not the first, phone to release with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
