During the I/O 2022 event, Google revealed a promotional image of their new flagship, the Google Pixel 7 Pro, but no real-life images of the phone were revealed. The lack of pictures and information has kept many in suspense. However, due to one mistake by a careless vendor, you can now see how the phone will look in real life.
According to the person who posted the pictures, they had placed an order via Facebook Marketplace for a Google Pixel 6 Pro. However, instead of the phone they ordered, the vendor accidentally shipped a prototype of the Pixel 7 Pro.
Some are not sold on this story told by a Twitter user from Ghana, nor do they believe the photos posted are that of the Google Pixel 7 Pro. Another reason why people are suspicious is that the pictures are pretty similar to the images on Slash Leaks.
Despite people questioning the authenticity of the user, the prototype appears to be entirely legitimate, as the phone has all the features that one would expect on the new flagship. The picture shows the Google prototype logo, and the rear panel is consistent with the images and information shared by Google during their I/O event.
Besides the design, the prototype is codenamed the Cubot Cheetah 2, and it runs on Android 13, confirming that the prototype in the picture is the Pixel 7 Pro. However, before more about the upcoming phone could be revealed, Google wiped the prototype through remote command shortly after it was shipped.
Due to quick action by Google, the unit does not boot and is stuck in a boot loading loop. This leak was not the first and will likely not be the last. People expect more leaks to emerge, revealing more information like the display and chipset used.
