Realme made an unexpected announcement and revealed their new C-series smartphone called the Realme C55. This phone is gaining a lot of traction online because of its new dynamic island-style feature, which is dubbed the Mini Capsule. This feature is undoubtedly adopted from Apple’s latest iPhone 14 series, whose Pro models feature a pill-shaped cutout called the Dynamic Island.
The Mini Capsule functions similarly to the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max as it presents the user with various notifications and appears as a black bar covering the hole-punch camera on its display. In the promotional video for the phone, Realme showed off what the Mini Capsule was capable of. According to the video, it can show you notifications for charging, battery status, step count, and even data usage. However, it is reported that the last two features will not be available on purchase and will be available later through a software update.
Although the Mini Capsule on the new Realme C55 seems like a basic implementation as compared to the Dynamic island, there is a possibility that the company could improve it and add new features in a future update. It is also the first implementation of the Dynamic Island from an Android OEM, disregarding the early third-party clones that appeared on the market last year.
Besides the Mini Capsule, the Realme C55 is relatively unremarkable, as it has a flashy design but an underwhelming chipset. The phone features a 6.72-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is powered by a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset. Furthermore, the phone will have up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
On the rear of the phone, Realme has decided on a 64 MP primary shooter alongside a depth sensor. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera. The Realme C55 comes with a dependable 5000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging, which is comparatively slower than the Realme GT3, which features 240W charging. The phone is expected to launch in two colorways: Sunshower and Rainy Night. It is expected to be available in Europe soon and will cost roughly $195.
