The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 has seen some impressive phone launches, but the recent Realme announcement may be the biggest of them all. At the event, Realme made headlines for its Realme GT3, which is making a global debut with more impressive specs and extraordinary charging speeds. The phone is reportedly a rebrand of the Realme GT Neo 5, launched in China in February.
The phone reportedly supports high-speed 240W SuperVOOC charging. This allows the device’s 4600mAh battery to fully charge in under 10 minutes. These charging speeds are crazy when compared to other flagship phones. For example, the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra can reach a full charge in an hour with its 45W charging. There are many benefits you can reap with having fast charging speeds.
Since manufacturers can only put so large of a battery in your phones, you will need to plug it in sooner or later to charge. Phone companies have recently shifted their focus to battery charging capabilities so that their phones can charge in the shortest time possible. Being able to plug your phone in and fully charge it in a couple of minutes can significantly help relieve users of low battery anxiety.
According to Realme, plugging in your Realme GT3 for 30 seconds will charge the battery enough for you to use the phone for a 2-hour call or 3 hours of music playback. The company used three 100W charging chips to achieve such speeds and paired them with a high-powered dual-GaN charger. The setup is pretty safe because Realme assures users that the charging system has received the TÜV Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System Certification.
Additionally, the battery should be able to retain around 80% of its capacity after 1600 charge cycles, which makes it long-lasting as well. The company also plans to introduce 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM, so the Realme GT3 should handle just about anything you can think of using your phone for. However, Realme has opted not to use the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Instead, they have decided to use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.
The only apparent downside to this phone is its camera system, which does not sound too impressive on paper. The phone reportedly has a 50 MP primary camera, a 2MP microscope, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
