Samsung and Apple have been battling it out for the first spot for quite some time, and it is one of these two massive companies that takes the number one spot for market share. Furthermore, these two companies have competed on almost everything, including the quality of products, cameras, extra features, etc.
However, in the first quarter of 2022, Samsung surpassed Apple regarding the global shipment of its products. According to the data released from various vendors worldwide, the global market shipments done by Samsung exceed that of Apple.
Reportedly, Samsung supplied 73.6 million smartphones in the first quarter, while Apple trails behind at 56 million global unit shipments. Therefore, Samsung has obtained a 23.4% market share.
The report confirms that Samsung has achieved a 23.4% market share, and Apple has an 18% market share. However, Apple has also managed to increase its market share by 2.2% and is the only manufacturer to see positive growth.
In third place, Xiaomi has a 12.7% market share as it shipped 39.9 million units. In fourth and fifth place, there is Oppo and Vivo. All of these companies have seen a sharp drop in market share. Xiaomi reportedly dropped from 18% to 12.7%, which is drastic.
2022 has been a successful year for Samsung as the company has produced high-quality phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, a best-selling model. Furthermore, Samsung has managed to create innovative products with various price options.
In terms of phones, Samsung has managed to release flagship phones as well as many low to mid-tier options, which has helped attract more customers to their brand.
