Samsung’s Unpacked Event Scheduled To Happen in South Korea

With multiple leaks and excitement building around Samsung’s next wave of foldable, the company has just confirmed where the much anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event will take place. However, Samsung has yet to confirm the date. The Korean publication Yonhap News revealed the news by posting a small teaser provided by the President of Samsung DX (Device eXperience) division’s Global Marketing Center, Lee Young-hee. He stated that the Galaxy Unpacked event will likely occur in Seoul this summer. Previously it had been held in the United States.

This decision comes as a surprise, but Lee detailed that the event was scheduled to take place in Korea because the country is meaningful and important. Yonhap sees Samsung’s decision to hold its large Unpacked event on its native land as a push toward its domestic market. Lee did not make any further comment about the location. However, according to SamMobile, rumors suggest the company may hold its event at COEX in Gangnam- Gu, Seoul.

Although the country and city have been confirmed, the exact dates still remain a mystery. Consumers will likely have to wait a few weeks before the date is announced. If previous rumors are to be believed, the Korean OEM will push back its Unacked Event by two weeks, meaning the new date will be in late July. The speculated date, for now, is July 26th.

This shift could also be due to financial reasons, as Samsung has found itself grappling with a sudden downturn in profits due to a lack of demand in the semiconductor market. This was also seen in its recent earnings reports. Many believe that moving the release date will help the company get its phone into the hands of consumers early as it moves into the third quarter.

Regarding the devices released during the event, it is expected that Samsung will release the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5. Many specs of both these devices have already been leaked. The recent leak suggests that these foldable will come in new colors. The Z Flip is expected to come in blue, green, platinum, and yellow, and the Z Fold is expected to release in blue and platinum. A few renders have also leaked that show some subtle changes for both foldable phones.
