Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Is Ready to Revolutionize Phone Speeds and Camera Qualities

With the Qualcomm Summit 2022 happening in Hawaii, consumers are getting their first look at the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform. Many have very high expectations from this chip as it is expected to redefine the standard among smartphones.

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will feature the most advanced AI engine users have ever seen, and it is expected to be 4.35x faster than the old one. This chipset will also be Qualcomm’s first ever to include INT4 precision support, allowing the chipset to have 60% better performance.

The new chipset will allow you to engage in multiple-language translation and transcription. At the same time, it will also be able to capture premium content using its AI Cinematic video. Additionally, for the first time, the Qualcomm Sensing Hub will also include dual-AI processing allowing you to use direct-to-app voice assistance to control your apps.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 also plans to push photo quality to the highest possible degree. It will use its first Cognitive ISP that will enhance your images and videos in real-time. The ISP will recognize and optimize everything focused in the frame using Semantic Segmentation. This feature is supposedly so strong that it will optimize everything from your clothes, face, and even hair.

With all its features, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be able to capture photos of up to 200MP. This makes them perfect for phones that use Samsung’s ISOCELL HP3 sensor. This is Samsung’s new sensor that you can expect to find in the company’s upcoming devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also Snapdragon’s first chip with AV1 codec support that will improve video playback of 8K videos at 60fps.

This new chip is also excellent for gaming as it offers several improvements in that department. It brings in life-like shadows and illuminations in your game that makes it look a lot more realistic. Therefore, games will be much more immersive when you play games on phones using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
