The New Pixel 8 May Come With a Higher Price Tag

The highly anticipated Google Pixel 8 series is scheduled to be released in October this year, and thanks to leaked renders and specifications, customers have a good idea of what to expect from these devices. A recent leak, shared by tipster Yogesh Brar via Android Authority, provides insights into the alleged pricing of the Pixel 8.

According to the leak, the base variant of the Pixel 8 is expected to be priced at $649, with the higher storage variant costing $699. This indicates a $50 increase in price compared to the previous model, the Pixel 7, launched at $599 for the entry-level variant.

The leaked specifications of the Pixel 8 include a 6.17-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will likely be powered by the Google Tensor G3 SoC, accompanied by 8GB of RAM and options for 128GB or 256GB of storage. The camera setup is rumored to consist of a 50MP primary sensor (GN2) with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 12MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, the device is expected to feature an 11 MP front camera.

The Pixel 8 is said to run on Android 14 and includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The phone is also rumored to run using a 4,485mAh battery, supporting 24W wired and 12W wireless charging. While these expected charging speeds are decent, they may not match the capabilities of some of the top-performing Android phones in this regard.

According to additional information, the expected specifications of the Pixel 8 align with the pricing details. The device is rumored to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, marking the first time this feature will be available on the standard variant. This information supports previous leaks about the display of the Pixel 8 series.

The previous renders of the Pixel 8 revealed a redesigned appearance and a slightly smaller form factor compared to the previous model. This new design has generated interest among fans. Additionally, both Pixel 8 models are expected to feature reduced form factors while still offering significantly larger displays that are not curved. In terms of authentication, the device is said to feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a departure from the optical fingerprint sensors used in previous Pixel models.
