The Nothing Phone (2) To Launch in July

The London-based company finally feels ready to lift the curtains off its brand new phone, the Phone (2). It revealed that the phone will be released on July 11th at 11 am ET with the tagline “Come to the bright side.” The full reveal will be live-streamed on Nothing. tech. There are many things to look forward to as the date approaches. The phone was confirmed over two weeks ago when the Nothing CEO, Carl Pei, teased this smartphone and what consumers can expect from it.

One of the first things to note is that Nothing plans on releasing the Phone (2) globally. This means that Nothing will have to appease some of the top phone markets in the world, including the US market, which is currently dominated by Apple’s iPhone. Internally, the phone will run on a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC instead of the newly released Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

The CEO provided reasoning for this, stating that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was a proven processor and that the company would prefer to use a piece of tech that has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimized.

Pei also informed customers that the Phone (2) would have a larger 4700mAh battery, which is larger than Nothing (1) ‘s 4500mAh battery. The predecessor also included a mod-range 778G+ processor, so an upgrade on both fronts was needed.

The company predicts that with the new processor and battery combined, there will be an 80% increase in the efficiency and power of the phone. Furthermore, leaked renders of the Phone (2) also show that the phone’s design has remained pretty much the same.

The only change seems to be the rumored Glyph lightning upgrades owing to the tagline “Come to the bright side.” Many assume the Glyph lighting will be much more advanced and have added features. The company has also confirmed that the Phone (2) will have a 0.15-inch larger display than Phone (1). Other news regarding the phone includes it receiving three years’ worth of OS updates for all Phone (2) owners.

The software creative director, Mladen M. Hoyss, also revealed that the upcoming OS 2.0 software will have a new home screen experience personalized to the user with fun and productive features.
