How to Watch The Suicide Squad 2021 on HBO Max

The Suicide Squad was released on August 5th, 2021, on HBO Max and in theatres. Yes, it is perplexing since the film title is The Suicide Squad, not Suicide Squad 2.

The movie is rated R and has a 2-hour 12-minute running time. The Suicide Squad will serve as a standalone sequel to the 2016 movie Suicide Squad, which explains why in other words, even though it is technically a sequel and not a remake, you don’t need to see the previous movie to enjoy this current one.

About The Suicide Squad

During a covert mission to Corto Maltese island, Task Force X enlists the legendary criminals Bloodsport, Harley Quinn, and Peacemaker to assemble a motley crew of their most violent fellow inmates from the Belle Reve prison. Nevertheless, the anti-heroes only come up against a swarm of formidable adversaries anxious to put them down violently.

Starting Thursday, August 5th at 7 p.m. E.T., HBO Max’s Ad-Free subscription will begin streaming The Suicide Squad. Before leaving HBO Max, the movie will be available for 31 days of streaming. FAQs

  1. Can you still watch the suicide squad 2021 on HBO?

As discussed above, you can still stream the suicide squad on HBO.

  1. Is there a difference between ‘The Suicide Squad’ and ‘Suicide Squad’?

While sharing a title, “The Suicide Squad” is thought of as a standalone movie that happens after the events of “Suicide Squad” from 2016. In the 2021 movie, some actors like Margot Robbie and Viola Davis reprise their roles, while others like Jared Leto and Will Smith—do not. Although the previous movie is mentioned in the current one, its writers do not view it as a direct sequel. Together with several other D.C. superhero films like Birds of Prey, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the original Suicide Squad movie from 2016 is now accessible on HBO Max.

  1. Where to stream the original Suicide Squad?

Although you do not need to view the first movie before the second, scheduling a double feature to watch both is simple, as the 2016 Suicide Squad is also available on HBO Max for free with a membership. If you’re not interested in HBO Max, Amazon Video sells or rents Suicide Squad (2016).

Bottom line

James Gunn was inspired to create his version of The Suicide Squad 2016 by its enormously positive reception. We truly hope it lives up to the expectations!

So happy streaming!
